Blonde to Brunette

Hi everyone!

Over this weekend I am very excited to say, I WENT BRUNETTE!

I have been brunette in the past and I have found it difficult to find a shade that does not wash me out.  so every time I have been brunette I have ended up wanting to go back to blonde, only to end up struggling with the ginger/red/cooper tones in between.

I have recently been reading "You Are Beautiful" by Hollywood hairstylist Ken Paves.  In this book he states that :
  1. You can do whatever you want, you just have to find the right shade/style to work for you.
  2. Being in your 20s is a great time to experiment!
  3. You are not defined by your hair/beauty (this made me feel better in case it went wrong)
Point no. 1 was also a huge factor I considered before going for the dye.  It made me realise that I LOVE dark hair!  and yes, I was guilty of saying "but it won't work for me".  Like I said, I often found myself going back to blonde but never really enjoying it.

Here are some factors I considered before buying the dye:
  •  I have a cool skin tone so should go for a warm shade
  •  I also have pinkish undertones so should not get a shade that is too warm/red
  •  This leaves me needing a neutral shade
  •  To avoid looking washed out I should only go a shade darker at a time.

With this in mind I opted for Loreal Light Brown 600

I must say I am VERY impressed!  Here are my results:

 After

I bought 2 boxes as I have long thick hair, but found myself only needing one.  I will more than likely use the extra box in a few weeks to patch up any faded/patchy bits.  But over all I am very impressed and can't wait to go even darker!

I am also looking forward to Christmas and very tempted to go for the Loreal Mahogony.  After all, I am planning to go darker so why not go red in between?  I can always cover it up if I don't like it.

Don't be afraid to experiment!
